A large sailboat up in a cradle was damaged by fire at the Waupoos Marina near Picton early this morning (Thursday).
A utility trailer and a pile of shredded tires also went up in flames around 2 o’clock this morning.
Prince Edward County Fire Chief Scott Manlow says the fire started in garbage from boats that was placed in the trailer, spreading to the tires and then to the boat.
Firefighters doused the smoky blaze quickly and kept the flames away from a nearby marina building.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury.
