Prince Edward OPP have arrested one suspect and have issued an arrest warrant for a second in connection with a break and enter at a residence on County Road 17 south of Picton.
On August 24 at 5:30 p.m., OPP were called to the residence where a white van was observed leaving the scene. A second call was received shortly after about two men that had been rummaging through a vehicle at a residence on County Road 8. The suspects were reported as driving a white van.
Responding officers observed the vehicle a brief time later. Officers initiated a vehicle stop but the driver refused to pull over. A short distance later the vehicle stopped abruptly and the driver jumped out and ran off but the passenger was apprehended by officers and placed under arrest.
A subsequent search of the area by the OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team was not successful in locating the second suspect.
Robert Buscanio, 30, of no fixed address was charged with break and enter, theft under $5,000, two counts of possession of stolen property and failing to comply with a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing and his next court appearance is August 31.
An arrest warrant has been issued for 38-year-old Ryan Melko of Napanee for two counts of theft of a motor vehicle and theft under $5,000.
