Both local junior hockey teams collected preseason wins Friday night.
The Trenton Golden Hawks got a solid effort on all fronts in a 5-2 victory over the Central Canada Hockey League’s Cornwall Colts at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Gardens.
Five different G-Hawks got on the scoresheet, including returnees Brandon Marinelli, Rex Moe and Michael Silveri and newcomers Mark Tassone and Anthony Bastianello.
Mac Lewis picked up a pair of assists, and Anthony’s older brother Mark Bastianello, Joe Kennedy, Patrick Brown and Kevin Stiles added single helpers.
Carson Poulin stopped 19 of 21 Cornwall shots between the pipes.
Meantime in Wellington, the Dukes looked to be in mid-season form, blasting away the Kingston Voyageurs 8-1.
Veteran Colin Doyle led the way with three points, including two goals. Fellow returnees Rory Milne, Keegan Ferguson and newcomers Graeme McCrory, Eric Uba, Jacob Burton and Jeffrey Burridge got into the scoring mix as well.
Creed Jones and Pierce Nelson split the net in the win.
Both teams play Kingston next, the Dukes to finish off a home-and-home set Saturday night at 7:30 and Trenton in to play on Sunday for a 2:30 puck drop.
