Shoplifters
Belleville, Ontario – On August 25th, 2017, at 6:23 p.m. officers attended at a business in the north end regarding two women who were stealing items from the store. Both were arrested outside the store and $300 worth of unpaid merchandise was recovered. A further search revealed a baggie of cocaine on one of the women. A 29-year-old Tyendinaga Township woman and a 31-year-old Quinte West woman will both appear in court on October 5th on charges of theft under $5000 and possession of a controlled substance.
Speeder
Belleville, Ontario – On August 25th, 2017, at 7:21 p.m. an officer was conducting radar duties on Old Hwy 2 at Elmwood Drive when he clocked a car at 144 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone. The 16-year-old driver was charged with stunt driving and will appear in Traffic Court on September 25th. His Mustang was impounded for seven days and his driver’s licence was suspended for seven days.
Intoxicated person
Belleville, Ontario – On August 26th, 2017, at 3:20 a.m. officers assisted EMS on Strachan Street. A 27-year-old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was issued a provincial offence notice for being intoxicated in a public place.
