An out of town owner has purchased the former Bel Marine Retirement Residence on Dundas Street in Belleville.
City Chief Building Official Ted Marecak tells Quinte News that a company called M.L.A.M Properties2 Inc. has purchased the derelict building.
Marecak says he has talked to the new owners who intend to renovate the building.
He says, earlier this week, the Ministry of Labour put a stop work order on the site, after new ownership failed to obtain proper removal permits from the city.
Marecak says the company’s goal is to obtain the permits, remove the damaged interior and renovate it.
He says the goal is to make it an assisted living and long term care home once again.
In February, the site was closed, with several outstanding safety issues laid out.
