The lockdown put in place on Monday at Warkworth Institution has ended.
The five-day measure was put in place at the medium-security prison in order to conduct what assistant warden Scott MacPherson calls an “exceptional search” for contraband.
Correctional Service Canada says they are strengthening measures to prevent the entry of contraband into its institutions in order to ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.
The institution has resumed normal operations and will be allowing visits again as well.
