A move is on to have a paramedic station established in Algonquin Park.
At its meeting Wednesday, the Hastings-Quinte Emergency Services committee decided to support the proposal by the township of South Algonquin to the provincial government.
It calls for a provincially-funded 24-7, 365-day a year paramedic station.
If approved, it would add additional coverage for the park which is currently serviced by a number of different municipalities, depending on the access roads and where the patients are located.
Chief of Paramedic Services Doug Socha says the Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Service answers about 100 calls a year in Algonquin.
