Westbound traffic was stop and go from the early afternoon to late into the evening. This photo submitted to Quinte News by a passenger going eastbound near Trenton
If you were driving the 401 westbound through the Quinte region Monday afternoon, there were some major traffic headaches.
Massive traffic volume heading back to the GTA, plunged the two westbound lanes into a parking lot at times, from Cobourg, right back to east of Belleville.

The traffic was slow right into the GTA, as far back as Belleville. This is a look at the Wallbridge Loyalist Road overpass westbound (Photo: Tim Durkin/ Quinte News)
The long weekend traffic was to blame, however some broken down cars and minor fender benders in the GTA made it worse.
We are being told of no serious crashes, just sheer volume causing the slowdowns, as long weekend traffic headed home.
