An adrift sailboat succumbed to nasty weather near Sandbanks Beach yesterday.
Early Saturday morning, just before 3 a.m., Prince Edward OPP received a call from a citizen about the vessel violently rocking around in high waves and strong winds in Outlet Bay.
The responding officers then called the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre for assistance, and they sent out a Coast Guard boat from Wellington.
A Griffon Helicopter from 424 Squadron also arrived to help.
The sailboat was destroyed, according to police, when it was tossed onto the shores of Sandbanks Beach.
The three Toronto-area occupants of the vessel made it to shore safely, with no injuries.
