A new tourist attraction opened in Quinte West Tuesday, one with a connection to nature.
The Quinte Botanical Gardens offer a number of gardens and strolling trails that roll down from a newly-built gazebo, on acres of land just north of Frankford.
The gardens are designed in various flower groupings with water and statuary.
Owner Deanna Groves says the gardens help people relax.
Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison, who attended the official opening, pointed out that working in the gardens is like farming, getting back to nature, and the project is “a winner” for his municipality.
Manager of the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce, Suzanne Andrews, says it will attract bus tours and “dovetail with other tourist attractions.”
Bay of Quinte MP Neil Ellis, also attended the opening, commented on the seniors’ classes the Groves have held to help seniors learn about gardening, helping them with stress and other issues.
Groves says she intends to have more of the classes in the future.
