Belleville is putting money toward improving the appearance of its city centre this summer, through its facade program.
City council has approved just under $29,822 worth of grants for four different businesses in the downtown.
The facade improvement grants are part of a city plan for Belleville’s downtown to stimulate private sector investment.
The largest grant went to the project by Linda and Rowland Tipper for their business at 340 Pinnacle Street.
It is for just over $15,129 and will help with new vinyl siding and business signage.
On Front Street the Inside Design business at number 313 will have a number of upgrades including new storefront windows and door with the help of a grant of $7,500.
Also on Front Street, two other businesses will receive money to help with revitalizing the upper brick facades; $4,975 for Notyal Limited and $2,218 for O’Connor Jewell Box
This leaves more than $29,391 remaining in the grant reserve fund.
Special projects manager Greg Pinchin says he expects more applications before the year is out.
