The search for the large scale models of the famous Canadian “interceptor” jet, the Avro Arrow, begins this morning on the shores of Quinte’s Isle Park in Prince Edward County.
An underwater search vehicle from Kraken Sonar, the Thunderfish, will enter Lake Ontario around 8 this morning to search for 9 models that had been test flown over the lake between 1954 and 1957.
The search is being spearheaded by the Raise the Arrow Project.
The Canadian made Avro Arrow was seen as possibly the best fighter jet in the world during its development but the project was suddenly abandoned in 1959 by the Conservative government led by John Diefenbaker.
