A 37-year-old Belleville man is facing serious assault charges after an altercation at Bon Echo Park during the early morning hours Monday.
Shortly after 12 a.m., a warden at Bon Echo Park stopped a vehicle to check for a permit. The man driving was allegedly argumentative with the Warden and failed to identify himself. The Warden attempted to place the man under arrest for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, the man assaulted the Warden and Kaladar OPP were called to the park to assist.
Police report the man continued to be argumentative and uncooperative with police. A female party arrived on scene and provided the identity of the driver who was found to be suspended. The man was transported to the Napanee Detachment to provide breath samples.
Travis Vaness is charged with Assaulting a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
and Driving while Suspended.
Vaness was released on a Promise to Appear with his first appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on August 15, 2017.
