Via Rail is considering a new rail line, and it could run right through our area.
The proposal is for a passenger rail line, which would run on an existing rail line, which has been decommissioned in areas.
The entire proposal is $5.25 billion, and would also include the purchase of new cars and engines.
The proposed line would run between Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto.
Officials are looking to have a stop in Tweed, but that has not been finalized.
A submission has been made to stakeholders, including the federal government.
It could be years away if approved and discussion is in its infancy.
