Bicycling is an activity that is steadily growing in favour these days, and tonight (Monday), Quinte West council is expected to decide on applying for money to help make cyclists more at home in the city.
The provincial government is offering a program that will pay up to 80% of the cost of installing bike lanes or other infrastructure that directly aids cycling in communities.
Quinte West staff will propose 8 stretches of roadway it believes would be suitable for bike lanes and is suggesting council apply for the funding.
Among the priorities would be portions of North Murray Street, Hamilton Road, and King Street.
