The lighting of ball and soccer fields in Quinte West’s Centennial Park is costing more than originally anticipated.
A mix-up in the bidding for the construction and lighting of the fields will likely force council to vote to take $275,000 out of a capital reserve account.
Drawings provided to bidders showed the need for a less powerful electrical system than was actually needed and specified in the tender’s wording.
The mix-up means the project will increase in cost from the original estimate of $421,000 to just under $700,000.
Quinte West council will vote on the issue tonight.
