A Napanee company may have an alternative for fighting fires and it may be good for the environment.
This week the CBC reported that FireRein Inc of Napanee was sending a load of their corn based fire foam out west, to assist BC fire crews with more than 180 wildfires.
The foam, called eco-gel, prevents the fire from re-igniting, while using less water to push down the flames.
The report says using corn as the main ingredient could lessen the potential environmental damage of using chemical fire foam.
