A bid by Hastings County to test a system which could possibly improve the ambulance dispatch system has hit a wall at Queen’s Park.
Ambulances are dispatched from Kingston or Lindsay covering the areas of Hastings, Northumberland and Peterborough counties.
CAO Jim Pine says if the call is from the Hastings border close to Northumberland or Peterborough, Lindsay sends an ambulance from either of those two counties, but Kingston sends an ambulance from Hastings as well.
AMBULANCE PILOT
Pine told Hastings County council recently it’s “very frustrating” since Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services has the technology in place to undertake the pilot project and has been waiting six months for Ministry of Health approval to go ahead with it.
He said if it’s a “no” he can’t understand it and if it’s a “yes” why can’t they get going on it.
