Unoccupied building set on fire on Wilson Avenue
Quick action from the Belleville Fire Department saved an unoccupied building on Wilson Avenue yesterday.
At 1:45 Friday afternoon, Belleville Fire and Police attended the scene to extinguish the blaze, with minimal damage.
They determined that the fire had been set intentionally by four youths aged 11-14.
The youth are expected to be put into an alternative measures program in lieu of charges.
Their names will not be released.
Multiple accidents in Belleville
The rain continues to wreak havoc on motorists in the Quinte region.
Over a 24-hour period, Belleville Police received reports of 12 motor vehicle collisions, many of them occuring during yesterday’s early rain.
Two of those collisions saw occupants transported to Belleville General Hospital with minor injuries.
Drivers are reminded to reduce their speed and create more distance between vehicles, especially during inclement weather.
