Officials say water levels on Lake Ontario are on the decline after reaching a peak high May 26th.
Presqu’ile Provincial Park in Brighton has been closed for some time due to flooding but it is due to reopen today (Thursday), except for about a dozen campsites that are still unsafe to use.
The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority says shore levels have declined 12 centimetres in the Cobourg and Port Hope areas.
That is still 70 centimetres above normal for this time of year and officials say eroding shorelines, submerged beaches and flooded marinas and wetlands in the area remain a serious hazard.
