While the Hastings and Prince Edward School Board is touting its balanced budget, the local chapter of the Ontario Secondary Schools Teachers Federation isn’t pleased with the cuts made to get to that point.
OSSTF Division 29 President Scott Marshall tells Quinte News, reductions to local secondary school budgets will have a major impact on students.
Quinte News also asked about the impact of recently announced school closures and consolidations on local teachers.
Marshall says even though most, if not all, teachers at Quinte Secondary School will keep their jobs, the acommodation review process has been hard on everyone involved.
Marshall adds that since the funding formula is based on the number of students enrolled, any layoffs to staff should be minimal and most teachers from Quinte will be split between Moira and Centennial as well.
