A local artist, who makes one of a kind fire globse that are works of art, had a once in a lifetime opportunity this week.
48 year old Shawn Donnan of Oak Hills, runs a business called Horizon Metal Works. They specialize in custom handcrafted fire globes, which are built out of 1/4 inch steel. The fire places can take many weeks to construct.
One of Donnan’s most recent pieces was in honour of Canada’s 150 birthday.
He tells Buzz Collins and Tim Durkin of Rock 107 they had a lull in their schedule.
Donnan says they sat down and thought about what makes Canada the greatest country to live in.
He says everything picked up steam when he got a visit at his shop from MP Neil Ellis.
Donnan says he is not sure where the fire globe will end up, however he says with all the negativity in the world, it is a positive piece of good news, in the greatest country in the world.
