Some new technology is going to make life a little easier for rides on Belleville Transit.
The city’s transit system has been added to the Google Maps app, allowing riders to figure out which bus they need to catch, what time they need to do that and when they’ll arrive at their destination.
In making the announcement, Transit Manager Matt Coffey says adding Belleville’s routes to Google Maps will enhance customer service and could help to boost passenger numbers even further, with conventional ridership already up 10% to date this year.
Manager of Information Systems Marc Coyle says the Google Maps service falls in line with new technological steps the city has taken this year, including the new virtual city hall accessible through the municipal website and the addition of the Pingstreet app for alerts and other information.
