Trenval Business Development Corporation, working with the Small Business Centre, helped 122 new businesses become reality in the year starting last April, ending in March.
In a press release, Trenval says 178 news jobs were created by the new businesses, most of them in Belleville, at 76 and in Quinte West with 52. Jobs were also created in Hastings and Prince Edward counties, and in the Napanee area.
Among the new businesses were a butcher shop, a craft brewery, a yoga studio, and a mobile barber.
Ownership of the new businesses was evenly split between men and women.
Trenval and the Small Business Centre are government agencies supporting entrepreneurship in the Quinte region.
