The Hastings-Quinte Employment Connection program continues to fill jobs with people who are on social assistance.
This is a program that helps people on Ontario Works find employment.
Their assistance will or will not be affected, depending on how much they make on the job.
The program filled 118 jobs in the month of May.
The average wage was $12.43 an hour.
Forty-two-percent of those were in general labour with an average wage of $12.90 an hour.
The top paying jobs were the 4% in the construction or trades with an average wage of $17.25.
The service industry and retail make up more than 30% with manufacturing at 14%.
The local Ontario Works caseload for May was 2,900, down 300 from May of 2016.
