(Belleville Comets honour the memory of Garrett Mills by marking goal posts with checkered tape)
The Trish Belford Realty Girls Under 16 Comets have won the gold medal at the Nepean Hotspurs Friendship Soccer Tournament.
Belleville defeated Russell 1-0 in the final. Heidi LaCosta scored 6 goals in the tournament including the lone goal of the gold medal game.
The Comets had two wins and a draw in the preliminaries.
The Comets continued to spread the message of the dangers of un-anchored soccer goal posts in Nepean. In honour of 15 year old Garrett Mills, the Comets have been marking goal posts with checkered tape. Mills died last month when an un-anchored soccer net fell on him in Napanee.
