Over 500 people packed the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre Wednesday for the 6th annual Seniors’ Showcase and Information Fair.
The day featured over 90 exhibits with information on everything from health and well-being to travel opportunities. There were also seminars for participants to enjoy on fitness, fashion, elder abuse, fall prevention and travel. The Ontario Ministry of Finance also provided a presentation on Ontario credits and benefits for seniors.
Event spokesperson Karen Wiechenthal said it was a successful event adding exhibitors and participants expressed how pleased they were with the turnout.
“Many said they were pleased with the information provided,” offered Wiechenthal. “Participants said it was ‘great to see people I haven’t seen in years and it is a great way to spend a couple of hours.’ The event really offers a great value to the older adult community. They get to see what’s available and the resources available to them.”
She added the event also provides an opportunity for seniors to get a look at the programs available at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre from the indoor pool to fitness classes and the free walking track.
