Children in need of therapy treatment at Belleville General Hospital will now have a fully accessible playground.
On Wednesday, 100+ Women Who Care Quinte donated an estimated $15,000 to the Help Them Play initiative that has been working to complete a play ground outside of BGH’s Children’s Treatment Centre.
The group that consists of hundreds of local women meets four times a year and votes to donate funds to one of three deserving charities randomly selected by draw.
Cassandra Bonn who co-chairs the Help Them Play campaign said they have finally hit their fundraising goal of $300,000.
“I couldn’t be happier,” said Bonn thanking 100+ Women Who Care Quinte. “You are making a difference in the lives of so many children with disabilities in our community.”
Children receive physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy among others at the centre that sees 1,000 kids annually, totaling up to more than 10,000 visits a year.
