Quinte West has proclaimed June 7 Police Veterans Day.
On Wednesday, Quinte West OPP will recognize retired police and civilian members who have contributed to making the community a great place to live, work, play and visit.
At the council meeting Monday night, detachment Commander Inspector Christina Reive explained they would like to honour retired members who contributed greatly to public safety with the former City of Trenton Police Service, Quinte West Police Services and the OPP.
She said they will meet retired police officers and civilian members at the Trent Port Marina facility to celebrate their achievements and contributions to the city and OPP.
She extended the invitation to council and the police services board. The event is from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
