Stirling-Rawdon council has passed its budget for this year.
Mayor Rodney Cooney called it a “maintenance” type of budget, with no major capital projects.
In fact, the only capital project mentioned was the building of a dog park near the skatepark at a cost of $11,000.
The tax rate for municipal purposes will increase 2.4% from last year, meaning the average homeowner in Stirling, with
a house valued at $213,000 will see a local tax increase of about twenty dollars a month.
The Stirling-Rawdon Police Service and public works/transportation make up the bulk of the budget, at $1.867 million and 2.28 million
dollars respectively.
