The Bay of Quinte Region picked up a gold medal at the OFSAA Track and Field Championship, courtesy of St. Theresa’s Bailey Maracle.
Maracle led the field, leaping over the bar set at 1.94 metres, before failing on all three attempts at 1.97.
Maracle spoke to Quinte News after the event, about his victory and the feeling of competing at his home track.
Maracle called it a perfect way to cap off the season and is looking forward to enjoying his summer.
Kenny Ngassoue of Markham’s Bill Crothers Secondary School and Justin Kim of Thornhill Secondary finished second and third, dropping out of the competition after clearing 1.88 metres.
