April showers brought May downpours!
As everyone knows May 2017 was very wet, but exactly how wet was it?
It was the wettest May on record in the Quinte region. We received a whopping 247
millimetres of rain last month, or close to 10 inches.
The previous rainfall record for the month of May was set 74 years ago in 1943 when
almost 174 millimetres fell.
The first day of the month created the biggest splash, when 52.4 millimetres of rain fell.
And, the 247 millimetres of rain we received in May easily surpassed what we received in May, June, July, and August of last year.
