Skateboarders in the Frankford area will have a new place to ride in about 10-to-12 weeks.
Ground was officially broken today at the Frankford Tourist Park, where the new 10,000 square foot, $320,000 park will be built.
Skate Park Committee Co-Chair Lynda Reid tells Quinte News, it’s an exciting time for youth in the community.
The park is being built by BC-based Radius Contracting and will be located at the Frankford Tourist Park, near the Frankford Road bridge.
Radius Contracting Owner Brian Savard is the lead designer of the park and tells Quinte News, the plaza-style park should keep young skaters busy for years to come.
Savard says excavation work will start immediately, followed by ramp construction using special concrete and they hope to be cutting the ribbon on the new skate park by late July, early August.
