The positive actions of youth will be a “cool” topic this summer.
Centre Hastings OPP is getting set to launch the 10th annual Operation Freeze on Friday that recognizes youth for doing good deeds within their community. OPP officers will be on the lookout in their communities and when they “catch” a youth participating in an act of kindness the youth will receive a ‘thank you’ in the form of a free ticket coupon for a ‘cool’ Froster drink.
Constable Lisa Robson says one can become a “cool kid” and receive a “Positive Ticket” from an officer for a number of excellent behaviours such as doing a good deed, demonstrating community pride like picking up garbage and deterring crime.
Robson added it’s important to recognize youth for doing good deeds for others and their community.
Last year 24,800 tickets were redeemed across the province through operation heat for hot chocolates and through freeze, 27,500 tickets were cashed in.
