A sexual assault charge has been laid against a senior Canadian Armed Forces member, in connection to an incident that dates back to Kingston 1999.
A media release from the Department of National Defence says the charge has been laid against Lieutenant-Colonel Stephan Popowych, after the alleged assault against a civilian, while Popowych was a student at Royal Military College.
Currently, Popowych has been working with the Directorate of Capability Integration at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa.
The DND says the matter is now moving through the legal process and a date and location for a possible court martial have not been set.
