18 Bay of Quinte athletes and 3 teams have qualified for the Ontario High School Track and Field championships being staged in Belleville later this week.
Jared Hall of East Northumberland Secondary School will compete in the Junior Boys’ long jump, triple jump and the 100 metres. Hall is also part of the Blue Dragons 4 x 100 metre relay team. Qualifying in two events are Kristen Bevaart, Jake Hollinger, Sam Hall and Andrew Brown from E.N.S.S. Tori Tees from Trenton High School. Liam Walsh from Bayside and Rory McGarvey from Nicholson Catholic College.
Nate St. Romain from Nicholson qualified in both the Senior Boys 400 and 800 metre but had to drop the 800 as it conflicts with the 400. St. Romaine is ranked number one in Ontario in the 400.
Also qualifying are Allison McDonald, Garrett Bird and Kieren Lewis of East Northumberland, Robert Leybourne and Joleen Mason of Quinte Secondary School, Megan Paddison from Centennial Secondary, Bailey Maracle of St. Theresa Secondary, Sydney Ward from Moira and Marley Danford of Centre Hastings Secondary.
The OFSAA Track and Field Championships run Thursday through Saturday at the Bruce Faulds Track at Mary Ann Sills Park. More than 2000 athletes will compete in the 3 day event.
