It was a cold and sleepless night for tenants of a Belleville apartment building.
Just after midnight, the fire department was called to the 12 plex at 75 North Front Street as
smoke was seen coming from one of the apartments.
The building was evacuated and firefighters had the flames knocked down within 15 minutes.
Three people were taken to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
The damage was contained to the one apartment and other tenants were able to get back inside around 4 this morning (Tuesday).
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
