Only five of 132 teams in the Canadian Junior Hockey League get to compete for a national championship every year so the opportunities don’t come along very often.
Yet two of the five competing in Cobourg this week are getting their second shot at winning the RBC Cup in as many years.
The Trenton Golden Hawks and Brooks Alberta Bandits were in Lloydminster, Sask. a year ago. Both are in action on day 1 Saturday. Brooks will meet Quebec’s Terrebonne Cobras followed by Trenton and the host Cougars. Cobourg hasn’t played since being swept by the Golden Hawks in the conference final on April 6th.
The G-Hawks are looking to improve on their semi-final finish from 2016. CJBQ will have the broadcast of Trenton vs. Cobourg for Eastern Overhead Doors starting at 7:20.
