A 40-year-old Trenton man has been sentenced to serve six years and ten months in a federal penitentiary for his role in a violent incident in Trenton last summer.
At the Quinte Consolidated on Friday, Justice Stephen Hunter sentenced Gregory James Sloan on aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and break and enter convictions.
In August 2016, Quinte West OPP were called to a disturbance at 50 Marmora Street in Trenton where they found a 69-year-old male with serious life threatening injuries.
Initially Sloan was charged with attempted murder however he pleaded guilty to the aforementioned charges.
He was given credit for time already served which means he will spend another five years and seven months in custody.
Sloan was also given a lifetime weapons prohibition.
