A 30 year old Kingston man faces several charges after Belleville police pulled him from the icy and fast running waters of the Moira River yesterday afternoon.
Police had responded to a shoplifting call from a North Front Street business. It’s alleged the suspect threatened the store’s staff before running off.
Police spotted a man running towards East Riverside Park and gave chase. The man jumped into the Moira River and floated south for a bit before police hauled him out.
William Bryant faces robbery, weapons dangerous and possession of a prohibited weapon.
He was carrying pepper spray.
There were no injuries.
