Four teams and 20 individuals were recognized for their athletic achievements in 2016 at the City of Belleville’s annual Honours and Awards ceremony.
The recipients had won Provincial championships or competed at the National and World level. That included the Canadian Women’s Under 19 Floorball team that came 2nd in Group B play at the World Championships held in Belleville last May. The team was captained by Belleville’s Hannah Wilson.
The Robinson-Kelleher Memorial Award to Belleville’s Athlete of the Year, won by Blake Scheerhoorn, was presented to his parents, John and Monique. Blake is currently with the National Volleyball team in Gatineau Quebec.
