There’s been another lockdown at Collins Bay Institution in Kingston, after a fight between a group of inmates, in the maximum security unit last night.
Assistant Warden Wayne Buller says the incident happened just after 7:00 p.m., when multiple inmates were injured in the fracas and taken to an outside hospital.
Specifics of the fight, including what started it and the severity of injuries weren’t released, but Buller says “the assailants have been identified and appropriate actions have been taken”.
Due to the fight, a lockdown has been put in place in the maximum security unit and visits are suspended there.
Normal operations will resume once prison staff complete a search and deem the unit safe again.
