The Trenton Golden Hawks and Dryden Ice Dogs were winners on day one of the Dudley-Hewitt Cup at the Dunc McDonald Community Gardens.
Liam Morgan scored twice and Jeremy Pullara had 3 assists in Trenton’s 5-1 win over the NOJHL champion Powassan Voodoos.
After a one week layoff following their 7 game loss to Georgetown in the OJHL championship, Morgan says the G-Hawks were well prepared for game one.
Anthony Sorrentino, Rex Moe and Max Ewart also scored for the Hawks as they outshot Powassan 35-26.
Despite the one-sided score Trenton coach and general manager Jerome Dupont says they can be a lot better.
Trenton meets a familiar foe tonight at the “Dunc” as they take on the Georgetown Raiders. Game time is 7:30. CJBQ is on the air for Eastern Overhead Doors at 7:20.
Despite outshooting Dryden 49-29 Georgetown opened the Dudley with a 5-4 overtime loss to the Ice Dogs. Dryden takes on Powassan this afternoon at 2:30.
