Families hoping to enroll their children into French Immersion classes at their home school of Bayside Public aren’t buying the school board’s reasoning for capping the size and numbers of classes at the school.
In a press release entitled “Parents mad as hell”, Vice-Chair of the Bayside Pubic School Council, Brad Beale, says Hastings Prince Edward School Board administration never asked staff at either Bayside public or secondary schools to look for space.
The Council maintains there is space.
Beale also wonders if public input into French Immersion was well advertised, as board administration maintains, why didn’t anyone around Bayside know about the meetings.
Bayside Public School is being considered for closure as part of a sweeping re-organization of the public school system due to capital needs and declining enrollment.
