The Trenton Golden Hawks allowed just one goal last night, but it was one too many and by virtue of a 1-0 win, the Georgetown Raiders have won the Buckland Cup in 7 games.
Andrew Court scored the lone goal at 7:03 of the first period and Nicholas Latinovich stopped 35 shots for his second straight shutout. Latinovich did not allow a goal in a span of 106 minutes and 52 seconds going back to game 5 last Saturday.
Trenton co-captain Josh Allan was disappointed in the loss but gave Georgetown credit.
Golden Hawks coach and general manager Jerome Dupont says they didn’t do enough to score.
Hawks goaltender Chris Janzen faced 25 shots.
The Golden Hawks and Raiders aren’t done with each other. They will meet again next Wednesday in the Dudley-Hewitt Cup in Trenton. The Central Canadian Hockey Championship tournament opens Tuesday. Trenton’s first game is against the Northern Ontario Champion Powassan Voodoos.
