The Belleville Police Service has been busy conducting RIDE programs lately.
Shortly before midnight last night (Tuesday), police set up a RIDE checkpoint along Highway 2 east at Mitchell Road.
Fifty-seven vehicles were stopped.
One driver had an open bottle of beer, but passed a breathalyzer test. He was charged with having open liquor in the vehicle.
A small amount of marijuana was found in another vehicle, but no one was charged.
Another driver was a novice, but didn’t have a licensed driver with him. He was charged and his vehicle was towed away.
