Hundreds of elementary and high school students are facing a deadline to get their immunization shots, or be suspended from school.
Ontario regulations require parents of children attending school to provide proof of their child’s immunization against a long list of diseases.
Hastings and Prince Edward public health program manager Bill Sherlock says 860 students still do not have proof of immunization just three weeks ahead of the deadline.
Sherlock is optimistic.
He points to a case of measles in Kingston.
Sherlock says if students do not have their immunization by April 21, they will be suspended from school, unless exempted for medical reasons, issues of conscience or religious belief.
