A pair of local women are facing gun and drug charges following an investigation involving an abandoned vehicle on Highway 2 in Tyendinaga Township.
Sunday night around 6 p.m. Napanee OPP officers approached two females who were removing property from the vehicle.
During the investigation the driver was found to have been drinking and blew a “warn” on the Roadside Screening Device. In addition, she was a G1 driver and her licence was suspended at the scene. The officers completed a search of the vehicle and located within the vehicle over a 100 grams of marijuana, a 9mm handgun, cocaine and items used in the distribution of illegal drugs.
Twenty-year-old Katrina Saunders of Trenton is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, transportation of a firearm in a careless manner and three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Nineteen-year-old Leena Canfyn-Crawford was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, transportation of a firearm in a careless manner, four counts of possession of a controlled substance for trafficking, obstruct police officer and driving with a blood alcohol content above zero.
