Quinte West is getting on board with the Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing team again this year.
On Monday night, council voted in favour of investing $56,650 per year over the next two years in the board aimed at drawing visitors and new residents to the region.
Board executive director Dug Stevenson told council it was a bit of a setback that Prince Edward County and Hastings County decided to pull their support this year because in December he had asked Quinte West for $1/capita. With the other two pulling back, Stevenson said the board had to request $1.30/capita, adding that’s what the municipality paid the previous two years.
He said this year they are working with a $450,360 budget.
Councillor Allan DeWitt who currently sits on the board commended Stevenson and his team for their increased presence throughout the region via various media platforms including social media.
At its next meeting Quinte West will look at appointing a new board member for the 2017/18 fiscal year. In addition council will decide who to appoint to the Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board nominating committee for the 2017/18 election process.
The City of Belleville has yet to decide if it wants to throw its support behind the board.
