Thirty brave souls shocked themselves by taking a dip in the frigid waters of the Bay of Quinte Saturday morning.
It was the second annual Belleville YMCA Polar Dip event, raising funds for the Strong Kids campaign. Strong Kids provides funding for needy families to send their children to summer camp, or to take part in other programs offered at the “Y”.
Quinte Broadcasting’s Devin Bellinger said when he first plunged head-first into the water, he didn’t notice how cold it was, but that all changed after about five seconds.
He was happy that hot showers were provided by the Quinte Rowing Club.
The event raised $6,351.00 for Strong Kids.
